Getting to South Padre Island from Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport:

Bus

Bus service is available to transport attendees to South Padre Island from the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport.  Rio Transit, Rio Gulf Coast Route (Port Isabel/Laguna Heights, Flexible Route 4), provides transportation from the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport to Port Isabel for a fee of $2.  The bus arrives at the Brownsville airport approximately once every hour and takes about an hour to travel to Port Isabel. Once in Port Isabel, riders must disembark at Las Palmas Plaza and board The Wave, a free local shuttle service in Port Isabel and South Padre Island. The Wave services the Las Palmas stop in Port Isabel approximately once per hour, and the travel time to South Padre Island is approximately 20 minutes. The Wave runs from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.

Rio Transit bus services operate Monday through Saturday only. For this reason, bus service WILL NOT be available to transport conference attendees from South Padre Island to the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport on Sunday.

Getting to South Padre Island from Valley International Airport in Harlingen:

South Padre Shuttle:

South Padre Shuttle offers round trip transportation from Valley International Airport to South Padre Island for $30 for CCUMC attendees. To get this rate, attendees must call (877) 774-0050 and mention coupon code CCUMC. Otherwise, the normal rate of $25 one-way or $40 round trip will apply.

Taxi & Limousine

Getting to South Padre Island from McAllen Miller International Airport in McAllen:

There is no shuttle service available from the McAllen Miller International Airport to South Padre Island.

Because of the cost of taxi service and the lack of a shuttle system from McAllen Miller International Airport to South Padre Island, the recommended transportation method is by rental car.
